I’ve always been a bit of a dork. I’m not the most popular girl in school, I don’t have a lot of friends, and I’m not exactly stylish. But that’s okay. I’m happy with who I am.
One day, my parents surprised me with a trip to Paris. I was so excited! I had never been to Europe before, and I couldn’t wait to see all the sights and experience the culture.
When we arrived in Paris, I was immediately overwhelmed. The city was so big and so busy. I didn’t know where to start. We spent the first few days just wandering around, trying to take it all in.
One day, we were walking through the Tuileries Gardens when we saw a group of people gathered around a man who was playing accordion. We stopped to listen, and I was amazed by the music. It was so beautiful and so full of life. I couldn’t help but smile.
The man finished playing, and the crowd started to disperse. But I stayed behind. I wanted to talk to him. I wanted to know where he learned to play the accordion.
I approached him cautiously, and he smiled at me. “Bonjour,” he said. “What can I do for you?”
“I just wanted to say that I loved your music,” I said. “It was beautiful.”
“Merci,” he said. “I’m glad you enjoyed it.”
We talked for a while, and I learned that his name was Jean-Pierre, and that he had been playing the accordion since he was a child. He told me that he loved music, and that it was his way of expressing himself.
I told Jean-Pierre about my life in America, and he told me about his life in Paris. We talked for hours, and I felt like I had made a new friend.
I left Jean-Pierre that day feeling inspired. I realized that even though I’m a dork, I can still do great things. I can still make a difference in the world.
