The Witches of Palmetto Point
When I first moved to Palmetto Point, I didn’t believe in witches. I thought they were just a myth, something that people made up to scare children. But then I met the Sanderson sisters.
The Sanderson sisters were three old women who lived in a small cottage on the edge of town. They were said to be witches, and they were rumored to have all sorts of powers. Some people said that they could cast spells, while others said that they could curse people. I didn’t know what to believe, but I was curious.
One day, I decided to go to the Sanderson sisters’ cottage and see for myself if they were really witches. When I got there, I knocked on the door, but no one answered. I knocked again, louder this time, but still no answer. I was about to give up when I heard a noise inside. The door slowly creaked open, and the Sanderson sisters stepped out.
The Sanderson sisters were everything I had imagined them to be. They were old and frail, with long, scraggly hair and sharp, pointed noses. They were wearing black robes, and they had a strange, otherworldly look in their eyes.
“Can I help you?” one of the sisters asked.
“I’m just curious,” I said. “Are you really witches?”
The sisters smiled. “Of course we are,” one of them said. “And we’re here to show you what we can do.”
The Sanderson sisters proceeded to show me a series of amazing tricks. They made objects float in the air, they turned water into wine, and they even made a rabbit appear out of thin air. I was amazed. I had never seen anything like it before.
After the sisters had finished their tricks, I asked them if they could teach me how to do them. The sisters laughed. “We can’t teach you how to do magic,” one of them said. “Magic is a gift, and it’s only given to those who are worthy.”
I was disappointed, but I understood. I thanked the Sanderson sisters for showing me their tricks, and then I left their cottage. As I walked away, I thought about what the sisters had said. I wondered if I was worthy of being a witch.
I’m not sure if I’ll ever know if I’m worthy of being a witch, but I’m glad that I met the Sanderson sisters. They showed me that there’s more to the world than what we can see. They showed me that magic is real, and that anything is possible.
